A 10 Day Spring Trip: Day 1 Taos, NM

First ones on the slope! Benefits of coming from a different time zone :)

I just got back from a week-long trip to Breckenridge to visit my parents. It had been a while since I've been spring skiing but all was good and well except for the fact that it's dumping the week after I leave ... thank youuuu Mother Earth. Let's try and work on coordinating better next time.

Anyway, we chose to drive from Texas given we can't go anywhere without the dog #nochildrenproblems. But this allowed for some freedom ...

The ugliest drive that ever did exist ... but worth every minute!

First stop, Taos.
Is there a way you can be best friends with a mountain? I live in the middle of nowhere so I think Taos is definitely in my top 5 best friends at the moment.
It was pretty good... they haven't had snow since late February so you will defiantly see some bare spots.
But the best thing about Taos is that if you go off the grid, there's always good snow :)
My advice would be to just get L O S T! Just don't end up off the mountain and have to hitchhike back ... or do ... it will make for a better story.
And as always the Bavarian (mid-mountain) goes best with sunshine, a beer, and a hefty sausage.

For dinner we ate at the Taos Inn. I love the vibe of this this place! And they do have good food! Known for their margaritas, your bound to get a little trashed :) Look for their sign in the middle of town, you can't miss it!
Side note: last time we stayed here overnight we bunked above the bar and I swear it was haunted. Just sayin'. Or you can look at it as a very well know historical hotel in Taos ... BOO!

Around the block is our favorite hotel (if we are not camping) called Casa Benavides. They will save you the time! The best spot in town for the money! You can even request a room with a kitchen to if you like to cook:) Always fun with friends. OH and the complimentary breakfast isn't what your thinking ... its got waitresses, homemade granola and more ... I promise you'll thank me later.

Stay tuned for more to come on the trip to Breck!
